Babies Babies Babies

Updated: Mar 24, 2019

Well, it has been a big couple of weeks at the farm, with lots of babies arriving, this beautiful girl was born on 10 March, she is doing really well, a little skittish still and its sweet to watch her follow around after mom. Lambs are one animal I would love, longer term to raise for meat, so it was extra special she was born while I am still doing my internship.

This is one of 10 baby pups that were born last Sunday, the 18th of March - and we got to see them the very next day.

They are a 90% Great Pyrenees, 10% Anatolian. Nala, the mom had 10 puppies, one didn make it, so she now has 9, and she is such a good mom, for being a first time mom, very protective, but still takes all the love and petting you will give her.

Laura and Abby weighed them all the day we we were there, so she can track them, as they will be registered and sold around 12 weeks old. Laura said she doesn't like to sell them earlier than that, because she likes them to work with mom a little before they go to their new homes. She said the only time she will sell them a little earlier is when the home they are going to has other guardian livestock dogs for the puppy to work alongside.

This is Vanna, with the baby goat that was born on February 23. He is doing really well and is super playful and loves to have a warm body - human or goat alongside him at all times. Vanna is pregnant and should be due here fairly soon, she is also super friendly and loves humans, but I could definitely see last Monday that has slowed down considerably and is not quite a lively as she usually is, so expecting her baby fairly soon.

Abby made some new friends this week, and hung out with the baby goat and the puppies most of the day we were there.

The baby goat is getting used to his bottle, and Abby enjoyed feeding it to him.
