BLANK SLATE

School officially started Tuesday, and today is my first day planning, dreaming, creating my blog, making plans with my farmer Laura, from Hidden Haven Farms for our planning day tomorrow.

I have known Laura for about 6 years now, and she is my hook up for DUCK EGGS! my favorite egg in the world. She helps run a chapter of the Weston A Price Foundation locally here in Chattanooga-which has been a huge part of my journey in whole food raising and eat and healing my body. She and her husband have a 30 acre farm high up on Signal Mountain, about a half hour from my house. I am super excited to work with her, as she does a lot of what I am interested in long-term, we are like minded in how we grow and raise food, and she is fairly diverse in what she does, so I have a lot to learn from her. She raises, chickens, ducks, lambs, milking cows, guardian dogs. This semester, as part of my internship along with a venture into raising meat chickens and ducks, learning milking and raising lambs (my favorite meat), I am going to help her design, build and raise her first vegetable garden on the farm, as she has not been able to establish one yet, being that her farm is fairly young and she has put her energy and resources into her animals.
